Winter is coming to Balkans

Good evening from a chilly Montenegro night

Preparations of the winter goes on; normally I have some left over wood from last year. Also have pelet from sweet hearts. Normally I have a wood stove but also was using pelet somehow. To have a permanent solution searched for a pelet basket but couldn't find here and as usual did it by own 😉

I bought the steel mesh from KIPS with the price of 1.85 Euros for a 50cmx50cm piece. Cut with metal scissor and shaped by hand and press with hammer. Also made a stand to be sure has enough air circulation and at the end used a piece of wire to connect these two pieces; stand and basket. Since two days using and quite happy with it 🤗

Based on warning of the locals, were looking for wood to buy which is not easy for me also. Do my best to learn Montenegrin but still so far to have a proper communication. Today went to Danilovgrad with neighbour and we saw wood, she called the given number and managed on behalf of me.

Yes; at the end I have additional wood for winter; yupppiiiieeee.

Today had one meter and tomorrow will have one more. One meter of the wood is more less 400 kilos, almost one tonne of the wood I will have with this way.

Especially during autumn and winter, you can see trucks or mostly small trailers full of wood as this around bus station and main roads. This one is one meter of wood (I guess they meant 1m3) and split wood will cost you 45-55 Euros. Mostly they make delivery to the address. Still better to purchase from locals to avoid extra road charges. Also strictly advise to keep the number for next year.

Also possible to buy whole pieces of wood. One of neighbour made as that and they paid 40 Euros for each meter for a total 10 meters purchase. The price is good if you have chainsaw and manpower to carry and cut them all.

Today carried a big part of the wood until my knee and spine start to scream. Tomorrow will finish also have to prepare additional space for the second delivery of the wood.

Now resting with sweet hearts, more in progress as usual.

Take care and stay safe
