Slava tradition at Montenegro

 Good morning from a rainy day,

After all these rains, I believe in that mother nature will be just gorgeous this year; cross the fingers ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

As I wrote before, Slava is very important ritual/tradition at Montenegro. As far as I understood, this celebration is to honour the saint of the family and coming from family history. There are many saints and you celebrate the day of your saint and share you food.

If you are invited for slava; that means you are valuable by the hosting family hence you have to accept this invitation. Also you have to dress well and to have drink/yummy with would be gently. When you arrive, have to kiss three times and say "Sreฤ‡na Slava"

This night is to be shared with family members and close friends therefore quite important to response and act accordingly.

Also better to have diet one day before to have space for all these delicious foods.

Last week, when I was driving to the car registration, I remembered that forgot my garden scissor at home. January and February perfect timing to trim roses and use the branches for new plants. Then saw that someone cut a lot rose branches and throw; grabbed a big part of them; would be shame if I did not ๐Ÿ˜

The technician got suprised when he opened the trunk; full of branches.

My aim is to make a natural fence around the garden and believe in that roses are the best option to make it.

This time, kept them in pots inside of the water. The meteorology is saying that next week we have freeze; planning to plant to the garden after that. Hopefully this year our heaven will be more colorfull.

If you read old posts, we planted cabbage to the garden of opposite side neighbour last year. And as always say neighbouring is quite amazing here.

For new year, I prepared pork sausage plates for close neighbours and one of plate returned with brined cabbage what we planted. A few times I saw this on markets but could not ask or understand as how do they evaluate; it seems they make rolls (sarma). Made a competition as which style;

There is no paprika sauce or dry mint (two important materials for Turkish style sarma) but still was good.

So, as you see go have rain does not stop progress ๐Ÿค—

Take care,
Benek & Haylaz & Zel
