Change of driving licence at Montenegro

 Good morning from a crazy windy and freezing day,

I drove the car back from tent to avoid any damage due to strong wind.

This chart can give idea about how is the weather on these days.

A big part of the countries have this regulation; replacement of the foreign driver licence with the local one. To rent a car, a valid driving licence with latin alphabet is more than enough at Montenegro, for replacement I tried to find information last year but no luck due to Corona. And as I always complain; lots of wrong information on internet.

Yes, you have to replace your driver licence if you have residence permit. The steps are;

- Official translation of your current driver licence to Montenegrin. It cost 15 Euros from English to Montenegrin with my one.

-  Health report issued by the government hospital. It cost 20 Euros and takes approximately 30 minutes in total. You have to visit doctors (they were all at the same floor at Danilovgrad) to check eyes, physical condition, medical records etc.

- A fee has to be paid to the bank. MUP office will provide this information. Has to be same all around Montenegro; paid 35 Euros in total to the bank. Do not forget to take your residence permit with for payment.

Biometric photograph will be taken at MUP office also your finger prints and signature to be added to the system.

That is it; in a week time your driver licence will be ready;

Based on EU regulations it was almost the same as my Turkish driving licence. Before I deliver my driving licence to the MUP office; took photo of both sides for my records. As far as I understood, they will send it to the embassy.

To avoid any problem or penalty, strictly advise to handle this procedure if you have a residence permit.

Have a nice day,

Zel

  2. Malesef evet. Yonetmelik 6 aydan uzun sureli ikameti olan herkesi kapsiyor. Ceza yiyen biri sayesinde haberim oldu benim de.
