Telecommunication at Montenegro

Good morning from a sunny day,

For today scheduled to go to Podgorica to buy a few important materials such as paint to finish the walls, food for cat kids etc. Also need to check the prices of profiles and dimensions to be able to make stand for kiwi. More DIY projects in progress 😉

Telecommunication is a must within today's conditions. Here, in Montenegro we have three GSM operators who also gives service for house internet and cable TV. More than 3 years I do not have a TV at home hence only mobile internet is more than enough.

The sources are saying on this issue:

  • Calling code: +382[1]
  • Main lines: 163,000 lines in use, 131st in the world (2012).[1]
  • Mobile cellular: 1.1 million lines, 154th in the world;[1] 178 for every 100 people, 9th in the world (2012).[3]
  • Telephone system: modern telecommunications system with access to European satellites; GSM mobile-cellular service, available through multiple providers with national coverage, is growing; 2 international switches connect with the national system (2011).[1]

At 178% Montenegro had the second highest mobile cellular phone penetration rate in Europe, behind only Russia, and ranked 9th worldwide.[3]

On May 2017, when I came to buy the house the owner of the hostel advised to have a T-Mobile which has the best tourist options on that days.

They have their application on play store available for IOS and Android operating system. You can buy credit, change your packet, check your credit etc on the application.

At the end of June, Western Balkan countries signed and agreement for zero roaming cost by and between.

There is no expiry date for this agreement and hopefully will not be as a customer.

Due to corona epidemi, could not fly since we came but normally, when you exit from the passenger gate, on the left side there was a small shop who sells prepaid T-Mobile lines. you can see a big and purple T letter on the window. It was 5 Euros (line and some credit inside) previously. Strictly advise to close mobile internet until you install credit and choose a pack from application if you do not want to spent all your credits immediately.

Also, a big part of the people are not aware of this; if you are planning to apply for residence permit; you have to have registration on closest tourist office within 24 hours of arrival. If you are staying in a hotel; they make the registration on behalf of you; you can ask them for proof of registration. You will need that document to apply for residence permit.

So, stay in touch within Western Balkan countries 😉
With love
