Fruit juices are so common at Montenegro. They squeeze and store in freezers. When you visit a house here, they offer coffee with rakija (traditional alcohol mostly made from grape but also possible to make from pears, quince, plum, peach, etc) or with fruit juice.

I love this ruby red colour of pomegranate. I have one big and one small tree on the garden. Small one bloomed a few flowers this year but no fruit, hopefully next year.

The big one was full of fruits, collect a big part of them, cleaned, squeezed and bottled. Now have 4 bottles of pomegranate juice and one bottle of pomegranate liqueur; cheers!

Due to rain and wind could not take the rest of the fruits, will do today then have to apply for insekticid and fungusits to the garden for winter maintenance.

Take care and stay safe

  1. My favorite Turkish restaurant in Seattle, Cafe Turko, puts something that I think might be pomegranate syrup on their dolmas. They are so delicious. I could eat them every day.

  2. It s called "nar ekşisi" in Turkish. They boil pomegranate until it is becoming thicker. I still have some pomegranate, can make a small bottle for you if you wish. Another traditional meal of Turkish kitchen is kisir; type of wheat salad and this syrup is amazing with that too 🤤
