To get married in Montenegro

Another very early good morning from our heaven,

Cat kids didn't let me sleep once more and woke up very early.

Two old but good friends from Antalya got in touch with me in January to ask for info to get married here, in Montenegro. Like schools; I don't have any concern on this issue hence wasn't  have any single idea but when friends ask for, time to learn 😉

As foreigners; it is possible to get married at embassy of your home country. Each country has own document list and requirements therefore strictly advise to get in touch with the embassy of your citizenship for this procedure to avoid any problem.

They will check your documents and give a date based on their availability. Turkish Embassy didn't have any availability during their trip therefore I checked my chance on local authorities and wrote to Podgorica municipality also asked them for my city; Danilovgrad and they said yes.

Podgorica Municipality still did not return to my mail. I went to there personally to ask for information and took it. Such a suprise; there wasn't any English speaking officer at front desks.

And even no English information available. At least took this list and shared with my friends. The main problem was they asked for application minimum one week before marriage which was not possible for my friends. They also have cat kids at home, they were watching them quite often from door cameras to be sure they are OK. As a cat mommy; I truly understand their concerns for their furry babies.

An officer from Danilovgrad municipality got in touch with my search for information; Many thanks to Miss M.; she was incredibly helpful. Even she translated and send me information in English which was amazing.

The list of the documents to get marry in Danilovgrad municipality is;

N.B.

2. All documents must have an apostille stamp.

Local administrative tax of the municipality of Danilovgrad:
*20 euros -  if you intend to get married in the premises of the municipality
*100 euros - if you intend to get married outside the premises of the municipality"

My friends provided all documents and send to me via mail and I sent them to official translator. When they landed, met them at the airport and went to translator to show originals and took translations.

Then drove to Danilovgrad municipality but couldn't get related officer, she was outside hence we made shopping and enjoyed with our time.

Wine with fire after BBQ, with lots of laughs was amazing!

Early in the morning called to other witness (I was one of them) and we all met at municipality for application. Once more sincere thanks to Miss M. she made translations between us and Danilovgrad municipality. Without her, this would be quite difficult.

Then we took the date for the day after. To respect their privacy, don't share photos. When you get married in Montenegro, you will get one local, one international marriage certificate. After marriage, we went to Turkish embassy to authorise marriage. They took the international one and issued to Turkish citizenship service records. They enter to Montenegro as two singles but left Montenegro as just married couples.

When we finish all; time to take photos; took them to Niagara waterfall which is a must to see place for me in Montenegro.

Waterfall and weather were perfect for photo shooting. Then we all had a lunch together and add more unforgettable moments to our memories.

So, as a short summary; that's all what you have to do to get married in Montenegro.

Take care,

We
