Growing hydrangeas

Hello from busy busy and busy days,

As mentioned several times; gardening is a 12 months duty and requires hard working.

January is the best timing to start growing roses and hydrangeas from cuttings. These two months I keep my eyes open and focused next to the bins. When people prune their gardens, put cuttings next to the bin.

In January, when I went to MUP office to help for translations of friends, saw hydrangea branches on the road. When I jumped on branches, they couldn't believe in as what they are. During winter period, they look like dead sticks; lo leaf, no colour on them.

Process of roses and hydrangeas (and for many other plants) is the same. Cut them with size of a pencil, seal the top with something, plant to the pots and protect from frost.

Why you have to seal the top of the cuttings;

First of all, to reduce lose of moisture which is necessary to grow roots and leaves. And secondly; to avoid entry of parasites into the body of the branches like this photo.

This beauty is from previous January and yes, also found them on the road and grew.

And these ones from January 2024. As you see the roots are so fragile hence you have to be careful when you separate and plant them to the pots. Still they need time to get planted on the garden. These party will be on sale on yard sale 2024 to help garden expenses πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ‘πŸ½

Take care,
